Some journeys deserve to speak for themselves.
In this film, Cody and Matt undertake an ambitious ski journey around Iceland, moving day after day through remote terrain under their own power. Long distances, changing snow conditions, and sustained effort define the experience. Their journey — and their achievement — stands entirely on its own, and it is no small feat.
Anyone who has travelled through Iceland on skis knows one constant companion: the wind. It has a peculiar talent for always meeting you head-on, no matter the direction of travel. Whether skinning uphill, crossing open valleys, or pushing along exposed ridges, the wind becomes part of the effort — invisible, relentless, and often more demanding than the slope itself.
Along their route, Sóti Lodge was proud to host Cody and Matt for a brief but welcome pause. After days on the move, the lodge offered warmth, good food, and a chance to rest before continuing north. These moments of recovery — simple, human, and grounding — often make the difference on long expeditions.
Our ski guide Andrés joined them for a day in the mountains, sharing local knowledge, good turns, and curiosity about each other’s projects. True to form, he even brought along our puppy — a small reminder that adventure here is closely tied to everyday life.
This film captures more than a ski journey. It reflects commitment, partnership, and the quiet resilience required to keep moving forward — even when Iceland’s wind insists on being part of the journey.
We were grateful to cross paths with Cody and Matt, and we wish them safe lines, strong legs, and many meaningful miles ahead.
